EVENT: Catalonia: After the Declaration of the Republic

The Catalan people voted to achieve national independence from Spain in a referendum on October 1st.  Spanish police violently disrupted Catalan voters, injuring more than 700 and closing many polling stations.  As mandated by the referendum, the Catalan government declared a republic on October 27th only to be arrested and dissolved by Spanish authorities.

Will Catalans be able to determine their own future?  What do internationalists say about nationalism?  What can these events teach us about political volatility in the world today?  Join the International Socialist Organization in discussion.
